While most trends among female celebritiess range from actresses' diet secrets to what kind of shoes and designer purses are the current "must haves," there seems to be a new kind of trend among some of Hollywood's leading ladies. And that trend is the masterful art of making many of their fans, as well as tabloid denizens, ask over and over, "Will they or won't they?" and "Are they or aren't they?" when it comes to the subject of their romantic lives. Of course,
Jennifer Lopez has earned her place at the top of that list -- which includes
Nicole Kidman,
Demi Moore,
Beyonce Knowles and even
Diane Keaton-- thanks to every tabloid-recorded PDA she and sometimes fiance/sometimes beau/sometimes co-star
Ben Affleck have made in their year-old relationship.
When the two (dubbed Bennifer), decided not to tie the knot at a posh resort in Santa Barbara, CA in September, it was the cause for mass speculation that they had decided to go their separate ways. After all, how does one bounce back gracefully from canceling nuptials at the 11th hour, especially when the guest list includes the biggest names in entertainment?
Not easily is the answer, although that feat would be much easier to withstand than would a celebrity divorce any day of the week. Lopez got to experience that harsh reality first-hand just last year, when she divorced Cris Judd, to whom she'd only been married 9 months. And although millions of people don't really care what Ben and Jen do anymore, millions of others are still wondering "Will they or won't they?"

Our suggestion is to wait until the release of their next film, "Jersey Girl" from Miramax, which is due in theaters in March. If they're still together after six months or so, then perhaps wedding bells won't be that far behind.
Nicole Kidman's hush-hush affair -- or, according to her camp, non-affair -- with superstar rocker Lenny Kravitz certainly seems to have surprised many. That is, if it truly does exist. While Kidman and Kravitz have been seen all over New York City in clubs and restaurants -- even at P.Diddy's birthday party -- canoodling and cooing, their sources deny they're an item. The two, who met when Kidman rented out Lenny's NYC apartment while he was out of town and her New York digs were being remodeled, are said to have not only vacationed together on a yacht in the South of France, they've also met one another's children. So are they or aren't they?
Our thoughts are that if and when Nic and Lenny do admit they're an item, an engagement announcement might soon follow.
While there is no secret that 40-year-old Demi Moore and 25-year-old Ashton Kutcher are an item, Moore is making it quite clear that the two have no plans to marry at this point in their relationship. Just recently, Los Angeles radio personality Rick Dees spoke that their were rumors Ashton had proposed to Demi and she had accepted. Demi, who happened to be listening at 8:10 that morning, called Dees and set the record straight on air. She told him the story was "completely made up," and was quite adamant about it. Will they or won't they?
Our thoughts are, probably not. In Moore's case, after having already been married to a mega-star for more than 10 years -- ex-hubby Bruce Willis -- and with three beautiful daughters, why would she make another trip down the aisle when she's having so much fun playing the hot divorcee?
This new trend seems to not only strike starlets, but pop divas as well. Married, divorced, and now maybe marrying again Lisa Marie Presley and Nic Cage are back in the news. As wedding plans are being reported, she's holding to a coy "we're very good friends" line.
And look at Beyonce Knowles and her "relationship" with platinum-selling rapper Jay-Z. Not only do they vacation, make hit records and hot videos together, they were even seen at a World Series game together. Yet they continually deny that they're an item to the media. Are they or aren't they?
Of course they are - if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's probably a duck. Once Jay-Z releases his next CD, "The Black Album," which he claims will be his last as he'll concentrate on his business ventures, we wouldn't be surprised to see the two make things more official.
And last but not least, there's Diane Keaton, who has recently been linked to her "Something's Gotta Give" co-star Jack Nicholson. The two, who play romantic interests in the Nancy Meyers comedy opening Dec. 12, are rumored to have become quite close since filming wrapped. So are they or aren't they?
We'll let you make the call on this one, but Keaton said recently that working with her dear friend Jack again "was heaven."
