Popular choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson, who recently appeared on "So You Think You Can Dance," has been working with P Diddy and his "Making the Band" groups since the beginning. Their most promising band seemed to be Danity Kane, but the all-female pop group split up, which now only leaves Day26 to carry the torch.
When asked if she was surprised by the split of Danity Kane, which included breakout singer Aubrey O'Day, Gibson responds, "Honestly, no -- because I've worked with artists a lot. I can see when the humility starts transitioning.
"They started losing focus," explains Gibson, who also works with Lady GaGa, Jordin Sparks, and the Jonas Brothers. "Everything else became an issue other than what I like to focus on, which is the gift. They were all talented and had great ability. I always wanted them to stay
focused on that, but it happens a lot in the business."
However,
Gibson does see a lot of potential with Diddy's all-male group Day26. She thinks if any of the "Making the Band" groups have a chance of surviving the business, they can.
"I really do. They're really great vocalists. They're always looking to get better. They've been through the worst, but I think they have the talent to stay together. It's just about the personal choices they make, but I definitely think they can do it."
We'll see.
