Golden Boys

By Emily Feimster

With his all-American good looks and friendly demeanor, Robert Redford paved the way for golden boys in Hollywood. In more recent years there have been the likes of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, but move over fellas cuz now there's a new crop of young hotties in town! Here are our top 15 picks (in no particular order) of Hollywood's next golden guys!

Orlando Bloom - This Englishman is starting our list out on an international level, but can you blame us? After all, never has an actor made elf ears so sexy! He's overcome a number of obstacles to get to this point, including falling three stories from a rooftop terrace and breaking his back, so he's not taking anything for granted.

Jake Gyllenhaal - He's always had a very sweet, shy demeanor until busting out this year as a hunky Marine in "Jarhead" and a gay cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain." It's propelled this 25-year-old into one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors. To top it all off, he's humble too! He once said, "Being a star doesn't last. That's not what life should be about. For me, finding out about life is the most important thing."

Heath Ledger. - Having already gained hunk status with flicks like "The Patriot" and "A Knight's Tale," this is the gay cowboy getting the most attention - at least from the critics. Not only has he proven his star power, but he's remained seemingly unfazed by the fame as well. The Australian's biggest brownie points, though? He learned "respect for women and patience" from being raised by his mother and three sisters.

Ashton Kutcher - He made it cool to wear John Deere baseball hats, but most importantly he made it acceptable to date a woman almost twice his age. Yes! But despite being quite the trend setter, he's still just a loveable small town guy from Iowa, who studied biochemical engineering and worked for General Mills sweeping Cheerios dust from the floor before he was discovered by a modeling agent.

Christian Bale - We first fell in love with the Welsh-born actor as a young teen when he starred in the musical movie "Newsies," but now that he's a man, he's single handedly reforming the "Batman" franchise. Let's not forget he was also named one of the "Top 8 Most Powerful Cult Figures" of the past decade by Entertainment Weekly.

Nick Cannon - Who doesn't love this guy? He can act, he can sing, and he's funny! He's certainly popular with the ladies having dated Christina Milian and Lindsay Lohan. The 25-year-old certainly isn't hurting in the friends department either. He's got celebrities lining up to be on his MTV improv show "Wild 'N Out."

Cillian Murphy - There's nothing sexier than a man with an accent. Even if he did play a villain in "Red Eye" and "Batman Begins," it's hard not to fall for this Irishman.

Ryan Gosling - Anybody who can make Sandra Bullock fall in love with them when they're only 22 has got to have some major mojo. Now this talented actor is romancing his fellow Canadian and co-star of "The Notebook," Rachel McAdams.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - Holy chiseled jaw! Thanks to the luck of the Irish, we've been seeing more of this "Bend It Like Beckham" star, who recently won a Golden Globe for his role in the Elvis miniseries. He's not much for Hollywood, though, and that's fine by us. "I don't want to play games in Hollywood and pretend to be someone else," he said. "I think it is important to stay close to your roots and be true to yourself."

Josh Hartnett - It's no wonder this Minnesota native's nickname is Hot-nett. He's left girls wagging their tongues from such flicks as "Pearl Harbor" and "Black Hawk Down," but sorry ladies, he's taken. Darn you, Scarlett Johansson!

Wentworth Miller - Never have we wanted to be in prison until seeing Miller locked up in the TV show, "Prison Break." Before choosing a career in acting, this Princeton graduate traveled the world performing with the school's famed a capella group.

Gael Garcia Bernal - Ay, ay, ay! Sorry, we get excited when talking about this Mexican actor. We loved him in "Y Tu Mama Tambien," but his big break finally came after starring as the revolutionary "Che" Guevara in "The Motorcycle Diaries."

Mekhi Phifer - This native New Yorker's acting career began when he auditioned at an open casting call for Spike Lee's "Clockers." Everyone who's since worked with the "E.R." actor has had nothing but respect for him and his talent.

Josh Duhamel - In the words of Paris Hilton, "That's hot!" Yes, there's no better way to describe the "Las Vegas" actor, who's managed to snag one of music's sexiest singers - Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas.

Kevin Federline - Hah, we thought that was a funny joke too!

Chad Michael Murray - Ok, for real this time. Last but not least is the hunk of "One Tree Hill," who's also starred alongside the likes of teen queens Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. And thanks to Hollywood's short-lived marriages, he's single!
