She and her former best friend, LaTavia Roberson, met Kelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett to form the group "Girl's Tyme." They entered "Star Search," but were heart broken after losing. Ambitions: After dropping out of college after one semester, Lopez pursued her talent for dance. She split her time between her job at a law office, taking dance classes, and dancing in Manhattan clubs at night. She moved out from under her parents' strict rules and lived in the dance studio where she'd been practicing for several years.
Early Promise: The girls renamed themselves "Destiny's Child" and their 1998 debut album, which was produced by Wyclef Jean and Jermaine Dupri, went platinum. On being compared to Lopez: "It doesn't annoy me, no, because I respect J. Lo. I like her. I think she's great. And I know that I'm over a decade younger than her, it's so flattering that I'm so young and people are comparing me to someone who has accomplished so much."  Quotable Quotes: "Beauty is only skin deep. I think what's really important is finding a balance of mind, body and spirit." On being called J. Lo: "I'm not J. Lo - she's not a real person. She was just a bit of fun that got really crazy. I've never been anyone but Jennifer. I was going to call the album 'Call Me Jennifer' because that would be my way of saying goodbye to the whole J. Lo thing. But 'Rebirth' is perfect because it means so much more."
