British actor JAMES CORDEN suffers from crippling stage fright moments before facing the crowds each night to star in his hit Broadway play ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS.

The comedian has won high praise for his turn in the show since the London production transferred to New York earlier this year (12), even landing the prestigious Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor last month (Jun12).

But Corden admits he often panics before he steps out from behind the curtain, and it's only when he's back in the spotlight that the euphoric feeling of performing for a live audience comes rushing back to him.

He tells Britain's Live magazine, "There's a point about 15 minutes before I go on stage when I ring my girlfriend and tell her I can't do it any more. I'm coming home. Then you go out (onstage) and the adrenaline kicks in and you don't even notice that you've smashed a dustbin lid against your head or mashed your leg in a fall. Then you come off and it's like: 'B**ody hell! I can't walk!'"
