Starz Closes a Multitude of Licensing Deals Titles From Summit, Lionsgate, Hallmark, IFC, Samuel Goldwyn Co., First Look & Fremantle

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Entertainment has aggressively landed a bevy of first run and library titles from Summit, Lionsgate, Hallmark, IFC, the Samuel Goldwyn Co., First Look and Fremantle. The deals allow Starz Entertainment to offer the content on multiple distribution platforms, including its 16 linear channels, HD, Starz On Demand and Starz Play, the broadband video download service.

"Movies have always been the bread and butter of our company," says Nancy Silverstone, vice president, program acquisitions for Starz. "These deals reinforce our position as the movie leader in television and helps fill our content pipeline for years to come. It's also an indication of our appetite for all types of movies -- for new, old, indie and mainstream."

Starz will have access to a wide variety of first-run films across many genres including P2, a horror thriller from Summit starring Wes Bentley and Rachel Nichols. The film is scheduled for a Starz Saturday Night Premiere. Goya's Ghost from the Samuel Goldwyn Company stars Academy Award(R)-winning actor Javier Bardem directed by Oscar(R)-winning director Milos Forman. IFC first-run titles include After the Wedding, nominated for a 2007 Oscar(R) for Best Foreign Film; Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee; Goodtime Max, directed by and starring James Franco; and Puff Ball, directed by Nicolas Roeg.

A sampling of library titles include 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, By Dawn's Early Light, Call of the Wild, Bye Bye Birdie, Hound of the Baskervilles, and Rear Window from Hallmark.
