I went out on a first date with a man that I met from an online dating service. He was forty-nine years old and never married. Mick asked if I wanted to meet him at a local restaurant for "drinks and appetizers" at around 6:00 p.m. I agreed and met him at the decided upon time. We sat down. When the waiter came over to our table and asked what we wanted to drink, he immediately said, "I'll have iced tea." I didn't want him to think that I was a big drinker, so I also ordered iced tea. I did think to myself, though, that "drinks" usually meant alcoholic. When the waiter brought our teas, he asked if we wanted to start with an appetizer. Mick said to the waiter, "We are only having appetizers." When the waiter asked me what I wanted, Mick chimed in and said, "We will both split the small salad." I just looked at the waiter in disbelief and said to Mick, "I guess I should have eaten dinner before our date." To this he said, "I guess so." When we were finished and the check came, Mick pulled out a gift certificate for $5.00 that he had for that restaurant. He ended up paying about $2.00 for the entire date.
