I met a guy the weekend before I had surgery, so for the first 3 weeks, all we did was talk on the phone. We really hit it off and talked for hours on end. My surgery was set for Valentine's Day, and when I came out, there was a huge, gorgeous vase full of beautiful flowers. (We'd only known each other 6 days and hadn't even had a date!) We finally went out, and it was great! He really swept me off me feet. We dated every weekend and talked every night for about 3 months. Then one weekend we went to a wedding shower where only couples were invited. He seemed pretty drunk, but with some people it is hard to tell, especially if they are used to alcohol. He made some comments about me in front of his friends that really hurt my feelings, but I didn't say anything about it that night or the next 2 nights when he called. Then he didn't call for 3 days, which, after 3 months of nightly calls, got me worried about him. When I finally talked to him, I mentioned the rude comments. "What did I say, what did I say?" he asked. So I told him, and then there was silence for a second or two. Then he said, "Well I just got home and need to take a shower, so I'll talk to you later." I never heard from him again. Needless to say, I just haven't bothered to date since. I have never been dumped without at least an explanation, so I just don't even bother now. -- Delia, 40
