More than any other, the sound of one car's vroom-vroom makes women feel oh so sexy! And that car is a Maserati.
In a study conducted by British car insurer Hiscox, a stunning 100 percent of the women polled had a significant increase in testosterone secretion after hearing the roar of a Maserati's engine. Testosterone is the hormone for both men and women that makes them feel sexy.
London's Telegraph reports that study leader and psychologist David Moxon believed that loud noises, such as the revving of an engine, would have an arousing effect on an individual's physiology. Turns out, he was right.
In this study, 40 men and women listened to recordings of the roaring engines of three luxury cars and one everyday vehicle: a Maserati, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Volkswagon Polo. Saliva samples were collected to measure testosterone secretion.
While the Maserati made 100 percent of the women feel sexy, it only had that effect on half the men. While there was no one car that had such a significant impact on the men, 60 percent showed a testosterone increase at the sound of a Lamborghini.
"We saw significant peaks, particularly in women," Moxon told the Telegraph about the vroom-vroom of the Masarati. "The roar of a luxury car engine does cause a primeval physiological response."
And what about the Volkswagon Polo? The sound of this average car engine actually led to a decreased level of testosterone!
