Poetry: Secret Love
Missed Opportunity
by Wayne Gregoire

Here she comes
My legs are weak
I'm getting confused
I can barely speak
She smiles at me
my god she looks great
Maybe I'll ask her
out on a date
or maybe i won't
what if she says no?
What if she says yes?
Where will we go?
Out for a movie?
To lunch or to dinner?
I'm getting ahead of myself
now what do i say to win her
I know, i'll say what's up?
no, that sounds dumb
or what are you doing wedensday?
wanna do something fun?
Now she's standing
right by my side
she says hello
i think i might die
She's elegent and beautiful
a breathtaking sight
I think about asking
what she's doing that night
Instead i return
her greeting and smile
i haven't felt
like this for a while
as we go seperate ways
i try to stand tall
but inside i'm dying
for saying nothing at all
how could something
that feels so good feel bad?
make you smile and laugh
and then make you sad
someday I'll ask her
out on a date
but i know by that time
it will be much too late

dedicated to L.K. the most wonderful girl i've ever known.

What did you think of this poem?
I loved it!
It was good.
I'm pretty neutral.
Not really my style.
It left me cold.
