We were on the phone
until 3 a.m., and between
your 'stirring rendition'
of "Sammy, Dog Detective"
and the knock-knock jokes-
between the way you call me
hun
and the way you gave every
character in your little story
its own voice-
between the way you're always
there for me
and the way you apologize when
you let your attention drift-
I realize that I am falling
in love
with my best friend.
