The Sickest State in the U.S.A. Is...

...Mississippi. Also on the sick list are Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada and Florida. That's the word from the 2008 Heath Care State Rankings: Health Care Across America compiled by CQ Press, which ranked all 50 states in order for best and worst health care.

The healthiest state is Minnesota, followed by New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts. Minnesota ousted Vermont from the top spot, which it has held for six of the seven last years.

The Healthiest State designation is awarded based on 21 factors, including each state's access to health care providers, an emphasis on preventative care, affordability of health care and a generally healthy population.
