Men and women who are slightly overweight in their 50s--that is, they have a body mass index of 25 to 29.99--are likely to live the longest. In a nationwide study of nearly 10,000 adults in their 50s, researchers from The Ohio State University concluded that people who were slightly overweight in their 50s but kept their weight relatively stable were the most likely to survive over the next 16 years.
