This is the eighth consecutive year that Subway has ranked No. 1 as America's quick-service restaurant brand, according to an annual Harris Poll EquiTrend study.

Harris Poll credits Subway's dominance to its fast and healthy meal choices in a time when people are more conscious about the medical risks of obesity, type 2 diabetes and heart disease and the importance of making healthy food choices away from home.

The top seven fast-food chains:
1. Subway
2. Dairy Queen
3. Wendy's
4. Five Guy's Burgers and Fries
5. Chick-fil-A
6. McDonald's
7. Burger King

Other fun facts to know and tell:

• The top two pizza restaurant chains are Papa John's and Pizza Hut. This is the first year Pizza Hut was not in the top spot.

• For restaurants focusing on coffee and quick service, Dunkin Donuts came in No. 1.

• Panera Bread Restaurants came in top for American casual dining, followed by Longhorn Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, Outback Steakhouse, Applebee's and IHOP.

• Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant took the lead as top-rated Italian casual dining restaurant.
